The Party

The Party

b98c4ca5.jpg

I am going to be dressed up in a new suit even though I am not really looking forward to the party

The theme is infinity, and I have picked a beautiful waistcoat from a label called eternity

I think it’s time to go because there is so much laziness in the healing process, I am tired of all that carelessness

A few days at best, soon I will be wearing a morbid jacket, the one with a special crest

Apparently, it will be a relief, but I have never been the one to subscribe to this kind of belief

It’s with a heavy-hearted sight that I am planning to travel light and upright

I was wondering if there will be a bouncer, do you have to carry some kind of bling or a special ring

I was wondering. Are you asked only one question when you reach the line of demarcation

Because you know I am no chancer and will make sure I do my best to provide an accurate answer

When you get sick, the disease you don’t get to pick so it may sound odd, but do you know if I can bring my iPod

They call it a life celebration, a bit of pity but I just want a small ration sprinkled with joy before I meet the dead cowboy

I hope they have wireless, I crave for something umbilical, I am going to be hysterical if it’s too clinical

I am going to miss those pain niggles and the pretty nurses with whom I shared so many giggles

No I am fine, no need to order a bucket of doom, I am not going to go with a big boom

I won’t do a face, no thank you, you can keep your faith. It will be low key that’s a sure guarantee from me

No strings attached wherever I will be despatched

I am not going to be bold when I am cold

oh thanks Lada, glad it worked :-) I have only made a few incursions in urban poetry recently but the excercise has been rewarding :-)

Although I am not a poetry person, this piece touched me. "The theme is infinity, and I have picked a beautiful waistcoat from a label called eternity.." After I listened to the song, that feeling is further enhanced. Their music and your writing are so compatible. In the end, we are free as much as we can stand to be. I have to read more of your poetry. :)

I think this is a much richer and fruitier depiction than Chris Wallace-Crabbe when he wrote "The Amorous Cannibal" https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems-and-poets/poems/detail/55150 You rhymed "Umbilical" "Hysterical" and "Clinical" whereas Chris could only rhyme bones with bones. Songs then do come with the blessing of not being eaten.

This like a big monologue that can go on very well with some very good music. It is very contemplative. Good funny is tragic at the same time, good tragic is funny at the same time. Maybe someday i would print all your buzzes and put in a hardbound book with some local artwork that justifies it. And i can carry it around at parties :)

This song resonates with me. But I'm the one that gets to walk my opinion. So much fear to get over ! Wish we could have our shiny tools without the cost Attached. I love this song I just heard. Thank you Pascal Derrien Thank you so much ! I think I paid enough !

Pascal Derrien For some strange reason I found this an upbeat piece on that which awaits all of us. Entranced by your words as always Pascal.
