The 70's, Kids, Climate & The 79 Year Old Me

In the late seventies I was roughly about seven or eight years old when like many others I discovered music and TV. In music I was totally smitten and under the spell of a UFO called Kate Bush her music scared me and fascinated me at the same time, her innovation and imagination had no limits, with TV apart from Scooby-Doo I developed a passion for a program called Space 1999 (or Cosmos 1999 for non-English speakers).

The TV show evenly instilled in me a feeling of fear and complexity alongside a deep appetite for adventure and the unknown. I loved the actors Barbara Bain, Martin Landau or Barry Morse but it is fair to say that I obviously did not always understand all the non-obvious touch points on mythology or spiritualism but past my passion for the Eagle Transporter fleet I remember that 1999 seemed a very long time away from 1977.

Today in 2014 I remember those times with fondness and sometimes nostalgia. My son too likes Scooby Do and to his very often probing questions I have tried to explain what it is was like when I was a kid and how back then I imagined the world would be. Not always sure and able to explain why phones had wires and why TV was black and white I have then asked him if he could travel in time how does he think the world would be in 35 years’ time from now. This is what he came up with.

It`s twenty one degrees today on October 1st 2049 not bad but this is three degrees below the normal average for what should be the ideal temperature in an indoor Palace, the State- engineers have been struggling the last few days to maintain the ideal temperature it is apparently - 9 degrees Celsius outside but nowadays nobody really go off the large living Domes except maybe the Lepstrians, under Caoimhe IV Grand Ministeress and her 3 male counsellors who form the governance of the Republic Of Eire. Eire it is fair to say has been at the forefront of innovation in adapting to the new living conditions following the Big Freeze of 2024 also known as the Year Of The Big Cataclysm.

In the Book of Tolerance which is now the base for governing and has been ratified by a referendum in 2037 there are two main pillars of Governance: Fairness and Endurance. On the first point it is clearly mentioned that engagement between Eire citizens is based on a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices,race, religion,nationality differ from one's own allowing freedom from bigotry.

On the second point Endurance it is mentioned that due to the nature of the planet evolution since 2024 our capacity of enduring cold climate is limiting our engagement and we should privilege the journeys of the soul by looking inside ourselves and out at the world.

If you were to go to the National library Of Eire past the Iain Banks statue in the East Wing of the Dublin Dome you could consult old scripts from 2010 and you could find and read some interesting facts.

On climatology,there was a misconception in those days that global warming would create a much warmer climate in large area including what was called Ireland at the time (the old name for Republic of Eire). This could not be farther from the truth and even more there were some ideas than in 2049 there would be vineyards in the countryside and Mediterranean like beach holidays on our coasts. What happened was as we know it that we are experiencing increasingly frostier winters (-17 C on average), later springs (more Rain) and earlier autumns for the last 25 years. In 2014 they started to notice a trend of colder, wetter and stormier weather which is not half as cold as what is currently the norm today.

On Endurance and the journey of the soul today out of 10 billion inhabitants on Earth in 2049 50% of the population is Catholic –Muslim and 44 % are Buddhist- Orthodox and 6 % are Atheists the numbers somewhat are very different for the Republic of Eire due to ancestral beliefs and legacy, the 10 million of Irish in 2049 are mainly Catholic-Muslims @ 95 %.

It is very surprising for the young generation to understand that the predominant religion was one dimensional and catholic only in 2014. In 2049 we have what is called associated spiritualism also known as bi-religion. It is also interesting to note that old scripts were predicting a decline of all religion altogether and our ancestors would be very surprised by the growth trajectory of the spiritualism in our modern society. This is probably due to the evolution of the demographics for one part and the different value system for another part of the successive generations outlines the ROEDC (Republic of Eire Dynamics Centre).

One last point to bear in mind is that while the concept of nationality was very important in 2014 in terms of identity, a lot of Earth and Republic of Eire citizens today can carry one time zone passport out of the three available globally. The concept of ethnic belonging is secondary, all the three time-zones have in common a value system prevailing over religious beliefs and/or ethnicity. The EU, NATO, OECD and other transnationals organizations are long gone and the world governance is now based on The Book of Tolerance, the authors of the chart among a few other things stress out and encourage citizenship and civic actions thru contribution, impact and ability. There is no mention whatsoever of privileging the right of the soil or birth or territorial legitimacy.

While it is widely accepted The Book of Tolerance has only been formalized only in 2027 a lot of modern Historians and the influential Caoimhe IV the grand Ministeress think the very first and foundational chapter was writen thru the events of the year
