- Integrates and manages the Design Services, Customer Innovation Centre and Design Assurance teams and Infrastructure into a Shared R&D Engineering Function at the Parkmore site.
- Understands the voice of the New Product Development and Customer Innovation Centre stakeholders and sets strategic direction for the Shared site R&D Engineering Function to meet those current and future needs, at Medtronic's Parkmore site.
- Develops a site strategy for future Shared R&D Engineering infrastructural, capacity and capability need, and translates vision into action.
- Explore and manage opportunities for the Shared R&D Engineering Function at Parkmore to serve more OUs across Medtronic.
- Manages and evolves Customer Engagement activity and capabilities.
- Provides the strategic framework to develop group goals that will cascade from the top. Supports the OUs to achieve their New Product Development and Customer Engagement goals at the Parkmore site.
- Participates in the recruitment and/or development of new talent for positions.
- Directs, designs, and implements a comprehensive Shared site R&D Engineering strategy.
- Functions as the central resource with prototyping, pilot build, GMP build, TM Development, test, Design Validation and Customer engagement capabilities.
- Promotes and supports DRM activities associated with product development projects.
- Promotes and uses best practices, techniques to drive positive evolution of the Shared R&D Engineering organization.
- Champions continuous improvement initiatives in customer engagement and engineering technology, skills, and tools.
- Implements and maintains culture of continuous improvement.
- Motivates, mentors, and manages the Shared R&D Engineering organization.
- Establishes positive team environment and develops good rapport and cross functional working relationships with all OU's conducting New Product Development and Customer Engagement activity at the Parkmore site.
- Provides leadership and direction to the team regarding all aspects of their technical and professional development.
- Distributes workload and priorities effectively to direct reports.
- Owns, directs, and controls all budgets related to the Shared R&D Engineering Function in Parkmore.
- Manages the Shared Site R&D Engineering budget and expenses addressing staffing and resources required to support workload in a timely manner.
- Collaborates closely with peers and stakeholders on the development of Shared Site R&D Engineering project schedules and resource requirement needs.
- Responsible for planning, initiating, monitoring, tracking and/or prioritizing Shared site R&D engineering resources and projects and facilitating successful, on-time and within budget execution.
- Sets clear direction and management that aligns with defined practices and policies.
- Works closely with cross-functional, cross OU teams to evaluate, develop and manage the New Product Development projects and Customer engagement activities to ensure predictable execution.
- Directs day to day activities for multiple work-stream teams through managing project plans, resourcing, status reporting, resolving issues, identifying project risks and accountability for deliverables across multiple functional organizations.
- Promotes use of new technologies and industry-leading trends to product management activities.
- Drives innovation across the business area, encouraging best practice and knowledge sharing.
- Responsible for project performance, risk management, administration, financial management, budgeting, capital planning, forecasting and issue resolution.
- B.S level 8 Degree: 15+ years of experience in engineering or related technical position with at least 5 years of experience in a managerial capacity.
- M.S. Degree: 10+ years of experience in engineering or related technical position with at least 4 years of experience in a managerial capacity.
- Ph.D. Degree: 7+ years of experience in engineering or related technical position with at least 3 years of experience in a managerial capacity.
- Experience participating in and leading members of product development teams.
- Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas, and detailed functional expertise.
- Demonstrated opportunity and ability to influence senior management.

Our Purpose
The individual in this role will have responsibility for leading and developing the Shared R&D Engineering function at the Medtronic site in Parkmore, supporting the CRDN, CRM, CAS, PVH, SH&A and Neuromodulation OU's, This individual will develop and lead the Shared site R&D engineering team and will manage and develop the shared engineering infrastructure at the Medtronic Parkmore site, to support New Product Development and the Customer Innovation Centre. The individual will be expected to collaborate with and support all OU's and cross-functional groups conducting New Pro
duct Development and Customer engagement activity at the site. This role will report directly to the R&D Director in the CRDN OU. This individual will create a culture of technical and professional growth, as well as demonstrating world class execution of projects and Customer engagement activity through their team and through collaboration with the various cross functional stakeholders across multiple OU's.
