This is Back to Front Day in Ireland today, a day where all the migrant minorities in the Country take over and are in charge on all the key aspects of the social and political life on the Island. The run management of the nation is therefore handed over to the 700 000 thousands non- Irish born residents in the country . Lets see how they get on with it !!!!

First lets stop at the Dublin Airport where Aisha, Ilok and Gunter have taken over the management of the Customs and Border Control for the day, the main change is an  open door policy for all non Irish passport carrier , If you are familiar with Dublin airport or if you are a frequent flyer you may know that EU and Irish passports are flying thru the customs while the “aliens“ are subject to a few questions on top of making sure the compliancy of their travel documents is acurate. Today Ilok who is of Russian origin has decided to apply the border open door policy  so vibrantly advocated by the US Assistant Deputy Home Secretary  Alex Lee in one of his recent speeches. This initative is welcomed by dozen of cheers and smiles from the passengers landing from Atlanta and Abu Dahbi whiled the colleagues from the US customs scratch their heads in disbelief when observing the free flow of passengers thru the gates.

Now Illok being a spoiled brat in a previous life has also decided to ask all Irish Citizens coming back from holiday or a trip  abroad to be subject to a 5 questions interrogation , most of the questions are about why they really want to come back to Ireland and the 6th question being about what is their level of  motivation in helping their country on social, economical or political  issues.  At first speechless , Eoin and Sheila a couple flying back from Gran Canarias gained some confidence as being asked  clear and unambigious questions is a novelty which has the merit of clarity and honesty.

While the Airport is getting busier all Eastern europeeans Barristas in Dublin are resting for the day while all Irish Business Owners are taking over all the tasks and day to day activities. They have been super busy pouring thousands of cups of different kinds of beverages and to add a bit of jolly to the exercise the orders have to be taken in Spanish !!!! The joy of conversing and working in an “alien“ language is a spectacle that Pitor and Olga are witnessing with bemusement as their own Owner  Mick is struglling to keep the pace, he is losing the momentum and by the look of it he seems extremly stressed by his lack of productivity on the front line .

Ireland National Football Squad today is playing a friendly against Sweden and all the Irish Players have been asked to stay at home. They have been replaced by 5 brazilians, 2 Nigerians, one French, two Polish, One Russian and the extremly skilled Dutch /Mexican Van-Gualjajito . Trappatoni has been sent to an English course for the Day while the Only Irish Polyglott identified Sean Murphy  has been asked to lead the Irish  motley crue,  he does not know too much about football but as Keano acidically reports that should be business as usual for the FAI one difference being that the Irish anthem has been replaced by a medley -version of “La Bamba /  No pasaran“.

But surprise surprise and this is a big wow moment for Ireland  according to the experienced commentators this is by far the best Irish team ever on the pitch, not only they run with conviction and tackle with skills but their precision combined with their team spirit is an honour to the irish fighting spirit. And yes !  they do kick the ball forward and yes !  it is on the other side of the pitch. Sean Murphy is delighted with his selection and he is smiling with triumph when interviewed by TG4 in Dutch about the 4-1 victory. This is the first victory in 13 matches and this is the first one with a 3 point  lead in 17 years .

The back to front to day has been a success and it is with sadness that everything will be falling back into its original format tomorrow however Sean Murphy does sum up the day really well with the following comment

How many people could walk a Mile in my Shoes I don’t know but what I know is that thousands of Irish residents are walking in shoes that  were not made for them and by the look of it is a terrific
