    What you will be doing:

    You will be responsible for providing technical support to the business, engaging with them to understand requirements, converting requirements into an architecture and design that will become the blueprint for the solution being created and supporting architects in their detailed designs. This role also includes technical governance, the definition of standards, best practices and principles to be applied and ensuring solutions are designed in alignment with these. You will also support the definition of the target architecture vision and drive strategic direction throughout the organisation.

    We need someone with excellent technical, communication and soft skills, who can engage with all stakeholders from business to technical and work with them to implement solutions.

    What will you be responsible for:

  • High level design of solutions to meet to the requirements of the business keeping in mind the target plan for the overall platform
  • Providing guidance on the future development of the platform to meet business requirements
  • Working collaboratively with other architects and development teams to bring designs to fruition taking on board their experience and knowledge
  • Liaising with the business over the life of a project
  • Providing technical support to senior management and the business side of the organisation
  • Providing high level instruction and overseeing its implementation
  • Working with teams and people across multiple cultures and timezones
  • Working on projects of varying size ranging from a month for a single team to multiple quarters for multiple teams, either initiated by the business or as technical improvements
  • Acting as a proponent for best practices and company standards within the company
  • Prepare guidance, standards, requirements, design documentation and ensure that the end product is aligned to the business strategy and overall enterprise architecture standards
  • Participating in collaborative architectural discussions
  • Defining the overall technical vision and creation of architectural designs for a particular solution
  • Working closely with both Product Management and Product Engineering to ensure solutions are in line with our target architecture vision
  • Promoting the IT vision within Product Management and the wider organisation
  • Involving and harnessing the knowledge and abilities of the development teams in the solutions
  • Working with people both internal and external to the company
  • Mentor solution architects in their skill and career development

    • What qualities you will bring:

  • Software engineering literacy including technical expertise with our tech stack - Java, Spring, databases
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Strong customer focus and ability to think about the impact of actions on the customer
  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders including team leads, architects, product owners, product managers and senior management
  • Ability to present technical concepts and specific solutions in a clear, concise and easily understood manner appropriate to the audience
  • Excellent active listening skills that enable you to understand the goals and challenges to craft meaningful solutions
  • Experience evaluating existing application design and making recommendations for enhancing applications to leverage cloud technology and services
  • Critical thinking with the ability to propose solutions as well as find flaws/limitations
  • Working experience with modern development and delivery methodologies such as Agile and CI/CD and ability to apply these processes as appropriate
  • Ability to argue and persuade for your designs and recommendations
  • Capable of understanding and solving complex technical concepts
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills along with the ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to mentor more junior personnel, both technical and non-technical
  • Ability to work across teams and with other architects to break down silos and ensure cross team communication and collaboration
  • Proactive attitude to the identification and resolution of issues

  • Have experience working with non-technical stakeholders
