    What is the opportunity

    This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience within the Group Centre Financial Control team which is responsible for financial reporting and control of Group IT projects in line with accounting requirements and guidance. You will have an opportunity to collaborate closely with the Commercial Partner team and interact with contacts within the business on a regular basis.

    In this role you will:

    • Responsibility for the production of insightful monthly financial reporting and other key results including both statutory and regulatory, together with the management of key controls.
    • Manage a team of Finance professionals, ensuring appropriate learning and development.
    • Prepare and review financial reports and analysis ensuring that underlying processes, review and controls have been completed in accordance with standard process and that the appropriate supporting detail is in place to substantiate the final balances.
    • Prepare technical papers for interim and year end reporting including Impairment Review of Intangible Assets
    • Liaise with colleagues in Financial Control and the Business Partnering teams to ensure collaboration, communication and resolution of issues in a timely and efficient manner;
    • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to deliver process efficiencies and improvements
    • Ensure high standard of work is deliver to reduce audit issues, errors, restatements etc.
    • Ensure all work of junior staff members is reviewed, regular check-is to ensure timelines are on track.
    • Drive transformation within the team - look for ways to do things better, collaborate with partners to achieve change.
    • Promote lessons learned on the team -what are we doing well? What could we do better/differently/more efficiently?
    • Provide support as required within the team and other parts of the Group on various Group projects and initiatives as they arise.
    • Contribute to the determination of appropriate financial control activities to ensure the completeness and accuracy of all financial reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with Group policies and provide training to team members on relevant topics as required.

    • Demonstrated experience of delivering high quality financial information within tight deadlines.
    • Ability to work under pressure whilst coordinating a wide range of tasks and inputs from a number of different areas.
    • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of team.
    • Ability to review the work of others and provide effective feedback and review comments prior to manager review.
    • Proven problem solving ability and creating efficiencies.
    • Demonstrated experience of developing good professional working relationships with key team members

    While not crucial the following would be a strong bonus

    • Previous experience of working in the Banking sector
    • Relevant knowledge of the regulatory and legal environment in which the Group operates and the ability to apply that knowledge in addressing practical issues
    • IT Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), good knowledge of consolidation and general ledger systems (ideally BCS and SAP).
