- Prepare and deliver international engagement plans for the European Commission and regulatory counterparts in digital platform and media regulation.
- Support the Director to develop a longer-term, broader strategic programme of work for An Coimisiún's engagement in international bodies and fora, on specific areas of relevance to media policy, content regulation and online safety.
- Establish new relationships and cultivate existing ones with regulators and policymakers internationally, including through our regulatory networks, to understand and influence policy and regulatory developments in other countries and in international bodies and fora.
- Represent An Coimisiún externally, including at closed meetings and public conferences
- Ensure timely responses to requests for information about An Coimisiún's activities in this field, responding to consultations etc.
- Prepare senior An Coimisiún colleagues for international meetings in support of An Coimisiún policy objectives
- Gather intelligence and develop knowledge relating to content regulation and policy in other countries as well as international fora
- Participate in policy development relating to media and platform regulation and provide comparative and analytical reports on relevant international developments and where required, act as the international expert in project teams
- Detailed knowledge of EU and wider international legislative issues and developments in media and platform regulation

About Coimisiún na Meán
Coimisiún na Meán has been established further to the provisions of the Online Safety and Media Regulation Act 2022 ("OSMR Act 2022"). The OSMR Act 2022 was enacted on 10 December 2022. The OSMR Act 2022 amended the Broadcasting Act 2009 to establish Coimisiún na Meán and dissolve the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland ("BAI").
In addition to undertaking the functions of the BAI as the regulator for broadcasting in Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán is to establish a regulatory framework for online safety, update the regulation of television broadcasting and audiovisual on-demand services, and transpose the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive into Irish law.

Role Mission
This role represents an exciting opportunity to bring your existing skills to new challenges and contribute to Coimisiún na Meán during a significant period of growth. Coimisiún na Meán's small expert International Affairs team is focused on establishing the organisation's credibility in international fora; and as Assistant Director, International Affairs you will represent An Coimisiún internationally on the full range of online safety and media policy matters. This includes supporting our programme of formal and informal international cooperation, helping to build our international reputation as an effective and collaborative regulator with a global outlook, and ensuring that Coimisiún na Meán's policy and enforcement work reflects international best practice.
Role Purpose
As Assistant Principal Officer, reporting to a Director at Principal Officer level, you will work closely with An Coimisún's colleagues to lead international engagement with the European Commission. Working closely with regulatory counterparts in Digital Platform and Media regulation, you will support the Digital Services Commissioner in the European Board for Digital Services, as well as our participation in the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services and the Global Online Safety Regulators Network. Alongside our regulatory cooperation activity, you will also represent An Coimisiún externally, advise on content regulation and provide comparative and analytical reports on relevant international developments across all of An Coimisiún's areas of responsibility. You will have the opportunity to participate actively as the international expert in project teams and to contribute to An Coimisún's longer-term, broader strategic programme of work. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to shape our international engagement programme and have a significant impact on the relationships between An Coimisún and its international stakeholders.
