Studied and practiced marine mammal photo identification, acoustics monitoring, habitat mapping, data collection and research design.

Animal Care and Conservation Intern, Seal Rescue Ireland January – April 2021
Provided care for over 25 rescued seals, participated in on-site research project including biodiversity surveys and habitat restoration, and engaged in public outreach.

MSc Marine Biology (University College Cork) 2021 – 2022. First Class Honours
Relevant modules: Marine Fieldwork and Survey Techniques, Ecological Applications of GIS, and Quantitative Skills using R
Fieldwork: Intertidal and subtidal surveying in Cork at Cuskinny, Garretstown, Ringaskiddy, and Rossmore, benthic trawl and sediment grab sampling on the ‘RV Celtic Voyager’, and a five-day trip to FSC Millport for intertidal and trawl surveys.
Dissertation Project: “A survey of population characteristics, pathogen detection and diversity of the shore crab Carcinus maenas in Cork Harbour”. This involved site sampling, GLP, statistical analysis in R Studio and SPSS, and scientific report writing.
BSc Zoology (University College Cork) 2016 – 2020. First Class Honours
Relevant modules: Environmental Impact Assessments, Practical Field Ecology, Plant Identification, and Biostatistics.
Fieldwork: Week-long trips to the Algarve, Portugal and Milllport, Scotland for terrestrial and marine field surveys.
Final Year Project: “Seasonality of forage fish in the diet of grey seals (Halichoerus grypus)”. A laboratory-based study to reconstruct the diets of a Wexford colony involving extraction of hard part remains from seal scats, fish species identification, and data analysis in Microsoft Excel and SPSS.
