Nithya Sree Kalluri

By way of introduction, my name is Nithya Sree Kalluri. I am a Materials Science graduate from Politecnico di Milano (2016-18) with 4 years of industry experience in Microstructural analysis.

During my 3-year tenure at SMT s.r.l Milan (2019-22) – I developed expertise in operating Metallographic lab equipment – Stereoscope, Optical Microscope and SEM. I established proficiency in performing material characterization processes like – identifying inter-metallic phases, grain-size analysis, and failure analysis to name a few. I learnt about international testing standards – ASTM E3, ASTM E407, HIC – NACE TM etc.,
My fascination with Additive Manufacturing (AM) was triggered by the exposure I got at Collins Aerospace, Turin while working on ‘AM methods for Aerospace applications’ – as part of my MSc thesis (2017-18). Real-time experience of using AM machines – EOS-M290 and SLM-280HL for the development of Inconel 718 valve components, was invaluable early in my career. The fact that AM methods have a lesser impact on the environment in contrast to conventional manufacturing methods has suited my personal principles too.
