Electrochemical hydrogenation using a palladium membrane reactor for electrification of the chemical manufacturing sector. Electrodeposition of catalyst layers. Material/product analysis by MS (GC, atmospheric), surface techniques (e.g. SEM, XRF), and NMR. Preparing and reviewing grant proposals, patents and examiner responses, and high-impact scientific publications. Mentorship of PhD and co-op students. Work with industrial collaborators. Carbon material analysis and characterisation including electrochemical techniques, UV-Vis spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. New methods for synthesising boron doped diamond electrodes. Optimisation of electrode properties to maximise electrocatalytic oxidation of water to ozone. Preparation of written reports and publication quality articles to peer reviewed journals.
