    OVERVIEW

    The AI Program Operations Leader is the owner of Welocalize's Machine Generated Translation Service Offerings, continuously refining and positioning our solutions in an evolving landscape with MT and LLMs (Large Language Models). This includes ownership of competitive positioning and pricing strategies, as well as oversight of the integration of machine translation into the broader business landscape with a focus on human-in-the-loop solutions.

    The AI Program Operations Leader manages a team comprised of AI Program Managers (customer-facing SMEs) and Natural Language Processing Engineers, and is an educator in, and ambassador for, MT with a sphere of influence extending to senior & executive leadership.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities
    • Ownership over Machine Generated Translation Service Offering: Strategically develops and oversees the implementation of machine generated translation initiatives, ensuring they align with the organization's long-term goals and technology road-map. Has a focus on how to position our offerings in the market both from a capability and pricing standpoint.
    • Manage Resource Allocation: Effectively manage the road-map of the NLP Engineers through understanding of level of effort and how it relates to business outcomes.
    • Lead, Coach and Mentor a Global Team: Actively mentors AI Program Managers and NLP Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
    • Coordinates Across Departments: Regularly coordinates with various departments, including Solutions, AI/ML Engineering, and business teams, to ensure that machine translation solutions effectively meet business needs and customer expectations.
    • Drives Technological Innovation: Vigorously drives innovation by researching the latest techniques and methods in deep learning and natural language processing, keeping the organization at the forefront of AI advancements. Closely collaborate with AL/ML Team on AI-enabled solutions.
    • Manages Stakeholder Relationships: Effectively manages relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, external partners, and clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives.
    • Evaluates and Measures Impact: Critically evaluates the financial impact of machine translation on business outcomes, using metrics to assess success and identify areas for improvement. Ensuring proper reporting in place to measure the financial impact of machine generated translation on the organization. Collaborate with Service Line Leaders to continually drive cost improvement.
    • Facilitates Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration: Encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration within and across teams, organizing workshops, seminars, and collaborative sessions to foster a culture of open communication and innovation.

    • Strategic Impact: Success is demonstrated through the strategic impact of machine translation initiatives on the organization, as demonstrated by increased machine translation utilization and a shift towards human-in-the-loop workflows.
    • Leadership and Mentorship: Effective leadership and mentorship of AI Program Managers and NLP Engineers, contributing to the development of a strong, innovative, and cohesive team.
    • AI Awareness: Staying ahead of industry trends as it relates to AI workflows, particularly publicly available LLMs and MT engines, and ability to articulate Welocalize MT offering as it compares to other within the industry and guide customers.
    • Positive Stakeholder Engagement: Strong engagement with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment of machine learning strategies with business objectives and stakeholder expectations.
    Main Requirements
    • At least 7 years of engineering experience with a focus on natural language processing.
    • Experience with strategic sales and/or business consultancy.
    • Experience in financial reporting, internal control, forecasting, and analysis.
    • AI/ML engineering experience a plus.
    Educational Level
    • BSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or relevant experience.
    • Master's degree is a plus.
    Key Skills and Competencies
    • Proficiency in Programming Languages Commonly Used in NLP: Proficiency in programming languages, commonly used in NLP, such as Python, and libraries/frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or spaCy and strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
    • Knowledgeable of LLMs and Capabilities: Experience working with Large Language Models, such as GPT-4, Llama 2, and other commercial or open-source models in production environment. Expertise in LLM strengths as it relates to machine generated translation abilities a plus.
    • Comprehensive Machine Learning and AI Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of a wide array of machine learning techniques, including advanced deep learning, reinforcement learning, and unsupervised learning, along with a deep understanding of AI principles and applications.
    • Strategic Thinking in AI Implementation: Ability to strategically plan and implement AI solutions that align with business objectives and drive growth of Machine Translation service offering.
    • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with data visualization tools and techniques to effectively communicate and present findings a plus.
    • High-Level Project Management: Advanced project management skills, capable of leading large-scale projects and ensuring successful outcomes.
    • Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor teams of MT Program Managers and NLP Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
    • Effective Stakeholder Management: Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and translating complex technical details into business insights.
    • Continuous Learning and Innovation: A commitment to continuous learning, staying ahead of emerging trends as it relates to machine generated translation & understanding the offerings of companies in our space.
