    The Role

    The role of EAP in ESB is transitioning to health promotion, becoming more proactive than reactive. Since the EAP service was established in ESB additional supports have been put in place to support employees and their dependants in dealing with personal issues. These include a 24/ 7 Confidential Counselling Service and Mental Health First Aiders who can signpost colleagues to appropriate services.

    This position will provide Health Promotion expertise and some EAP support. The main purpose of this role is to deliver and support Health Promotion services to ESB Group and assist in the development and implementation of non-clinical Health & Wellbeing initiatives. Some clearly defined EAP support will also be a feature of the role.

    There is a wide range of skills/experience within the health promotion team. The team is involved in:

  • EAP support service to assist in the identification and resolution of employee concerns which affect, or may affect, performance. Such employee concerns typically include, but are not limited to: Personal matters - health, relationships, family, financial, emotional, legal, anxiety, alcohol, drugs and other related issues Work matters - work demands, working relationships, personal and interpersonal skills, work/life balance, stress and other related issues
  • Developing and Delivering Physical & Mental health support programmes & initiatives
  • Managing external services to ESB including: 24/7 confidential counselling service Health promotion service providers Health and Wellbeing applications
  • Supporting the ESB Wellbeing Champions and Mental Health First Aid programme team
  • Developing and delivering a yearly wellbeing programme of events
  • Preventative and proactive involvement in health screening, vaccination programmes and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
  • This role will report to the Regional Health Promotion Manager and the location of this position is flexible, however travel throughout the country will be a feature predominantly in Mid-West region of Ireland.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of the Health & Wellbeing Strategy
  • Support specific Health Promotion programmes across ESB Group
  • Advise the Regional Health & Wellbeing Promotion Manager on EAP and Health & Wellbeing issues
  • Collaborate with the Health promotion Officer and other Health Promotion EAP officers in relation to health promotion.
  • Liaise with external non-clinical service providers as required
  • Manage specific health promotion programmes
  • Stay up to date on changes in professional practice and legislation
  • Maintain appropriate records in line with GDPR
  • Provide reports and service updates as requested
  • Provide clearly defined EAP support to a specified region, including proactive and reactive support
  • Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in a similar role
  • A relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent work experience
  • Awareness and understanding Health & Wellbeing services and the ability to deliver such services
  • Awareness and understanding of current health and wellbeing trends
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Influence the thinking of others re: proactive health behaviours
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • IT proficiency – use of MS Office applications and electronic records is required
  • A full clean Drivers Licence is required as travel is a feature of this role.
  • Desirable

  • Diploma in Employee Assistance and Social Support would be advantageous
  • Other desirable qualifications including diploma health & wellbeing, health & safety or relevant disciplines such as counselling, psychotherapy, nursing, social studies or psychology would be an advantage

    €45,000 to €55,000 per annum
