    Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer in Marine Science at University of Galway.

    The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Galway - Ireland, invites applications for a Lecturer in Marine Science, commencing September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. Marine Science is a key area of the University of Galway located in the West coast of Ireland. The candidate will develop innovative research in Marine Science centred around the marine biodiversity/biodiscovery programmes already in place in the school and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDG 14. The post-holder will benefit from access to a broad range of equipment including a core facility in (bio)molecular chemistry, laboratories in molecular biology, growth chambers and access to the Carna Research Station. The criteria for selection are proven excellence and/or potential for scientific impact through original and collaborative research, and teaching.

    The lecturer will be located within the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences and would be expected to deliver teaching activities in a set of programmes such as Plant Agribioscience, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Genetics/Genomics, and Microbiology. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Teaching at the University of Galway involves working with students and groups from diverse backgrounds. The new lecturer will be expected to collaborate with other members of the Ryan Institute.     • a sustainable world (agriculture, marine, bioeconomy, energy, environmental chemistry, biochemistry or microbiology)

    Salary:

    €59,801 to €95,401 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)

    This appointment will be made on the Lecturer scale in line with current Government pay policy and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University's Remuneration policy. QA321-Updated-PP- )
