    Description

    Pilot Plant Manager

    The Pilot Plant is a state-of-the-art facility containing a full drying plant, UHT line, membrane plants and other smaller ancillary equipment for conducting trials on dairy and plant-based consumer and ingredient products. Reporting to the Head of R&D Technical Operations, this position will suit an organised and energetic individual who is highly motivated. An individual with a technical background including process development, production or maintenance would be suited. This individual must have the ability to work across all levels of the business whilst maximising the pilot plant utilisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Management and co-ordination of pilot plant trials

    · Managing trial request documentation from across the business including external collaborations

    · Planning and scheduling - Oversee daily operations, schedule, and prioritise production

    · Co-ordinate in-house expertise to provide technical advice, support, and guidance in areas such as process and technology, site utilities, service, and maintenance

    · Team development – Build, manage and develop a team of multi-skilled pilot plant specialists

    · Ensuring training requirements are met using LMS system

    · Maintaining H&S standards – By being the R&D H&S representative, ensuring that R&D are compliant to site H&S standards, quality, and regulatory procedures

    · Escalating facilities, utilities and services issues to appropriate contact, when they arise

    · Managing pilot plant facilities, equipment cleaning and maintenance management, including service level agreement management with internal and external personnel.

    · Warehouse management and stock control is the responsibility of the pilot plant team

    · Management of consumer durables including sourcing packaging for pilot trials

    · Manage Pilot Plant site capability project improvements, upgrades and maintenance schedules using Lean principals

    · Maintain awareness of visitors to the facility and co-ordination of Pilot Plant tours upon special request

    · Maximise pilot plant utilisation and efficiency by coordinating tasks and duties elsewhere during planned downtime

    · Adhere to Tirlán values and voaching vulture, by creating positive collaborations with the wider R&D team

    Experience Required

    · A Science, Engineering, Production or Process degree qualification

    · 2-5 years' experience in a similar role or has demonstrable experience in NPD, operational or maintenance position

    · Experience in the dairy, food or beverage sector is essential

    · Practical exposure to the equipment we use is preferable but not essential

    · Strong verbal communication, and presentation skills

    · Ability to work effectively under pressure, plan and prioritize work whilst working with your team daily to support pilot plant activities

    · Ability to make decisions and work on own initiative
