    Description

    Our client is seeking an IT Solution Architect to join their team. The role involves ensuring effective implementation of IT architecture frameworks, translating complex business problems into technical solutions. Responsibilities include overseeing solution architecture, applications, infrastructure, and technical delivery. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in managing technical project delivery and fostering strong stakeholder relationships for successful project alignment.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Maintain architecture standards required to deliver business requirements for new and existing services


    • Define how the different architecture components interact from an end to end solution perspective


    • Ensure the architecture design at project/ programme level is aligned with the companies architecture standards


    • Support project, infrastructure and/or application teams throughout the project lifecycle


    • Work closely with Project Managers, ensuring timeliness, cost and quality of IT project deliverables, as well as solution-level risk identification and mitigation


    • Carry out solution design reviews to ensure conformance to architecture standards


    • Work closely with the Architecture teams to coordinate migration of the IT architecture towards a target state over time in line with EA roadmaps and prioritised project initiatives


    • Identify gaps or underperforming elements in enterprise IT solutions and work with the Architecture Teams to develop capabilities to fill those gaps


    • Research, document and maintain the existing and future reference architecture artefacts


    • Develop and maintain architecture models, baselines and roadmaps


    • Ensure IT solutions enhance flexibility, consistency, integration, and reuse for our customers


    • Improve the management of all information systems and IT infrastructure


    • Ensure the exploitation of IT assets across the enterprise is effective and efficient


    • Participate in the budget and price review cycle


    • Keeping abreast of architecture leading practice and industry standards


    • Assess the interaction / interface between applications, databases, and middleware systems to identify and address problems / gaps in functional coverage


    • Active participation in the companies Architecture Governance structures


    • Assist the development of data governance processes and develop business data rules (working in partnership with the business and Information Security & Data Protection teams)


    • Develop common and standard data domain definitions


    • Input to IT risk management and business continuity strategy and plan the companies risk management and business continuity processes

    General Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the business, including but not limited to;

    o Enterprise Architects

    o Project Delivery Teams

    o Project Managers

    o Business Subject Matter Experts


    • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across the business and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.


    • Support the delivery of the companies Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.


    • Other duties as required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


    • Delivering IT projects with specific experience in delivering architecture


    • Ability to foresee potential issues and mitigate ahead of time


    • Aligning project architecture with an overarching company and IT strategy


    • Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable


    • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience


    • Ability to develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally


    • Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate information to others


    • Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results


    • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions


    • Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
    • Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job
