    About the team

    Stripe's payments products have helped to accelerate many of the world's most innovative companies, and the Payments Methods team owns one of Stripe's most critical workflows, a platform that processes billions of dollars in payments annually. The EMEA wallets team builds and maintains local payment methods relevant to Stripe's merchants and their buyers (like PayPal, Pay by bank etc). The team is focused on increasing the coverage and adoption of locally preferred payment methods for all our users, with a focus in EMEA.

    What you'll do

    Backend Engineers at Stripe are comfortable working on new products under fluid conditions, seamlessly balancing tactical and strategic considerations.

    Responsibilities

  • Scope and lead technical projects, laying the groundwork for early-stage products to iteratively evolve and scale
  • Design, build, expand and maintain APIs and services
  • Work with our partners to launch new markets, payment methods, and capabilities
  • Align our technical decisions with Stripe's broad strategic initiatives, while also advocating for needs specific to emerging new businesses
  • Collaborate across the company to leverage existing infrastructure as well as build bespoke solutions where needed to solve problems end-to-end
  • Minimum requirements

  • Based or willing to relocate to Dublin. Subject to eligibility criteria, we may be able to offer relocation support, please discuss this with your recruiter if the role isn't local to you.
  • Empathy, strong communication skills and a deep respect for the power of collaboration
  • A learning mindset, regardless of level or experience
  • Software engineering experience in a high-stakes production environment
  • Experience writing high quality code in a major programming language and a constructive attitude to help others raise the bar
  • Ability to drive clear next steps when encountering ambiguous spaces without clear lines of ownership
  • Ability to think creatively and holistically about reducing risk in complex environments
  • Financial experience is a plus but not at all a requirement

    Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

    Pay and benefits

    The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €81,600 - €122,400. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role's On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
