    Senior Motor Product Underwriter


    An opportunity has arisen for a senior Personal Lines Product Underwriter position within Zurich Ireland's Business Unit. This role will sit within the Personal Lines Underwriting function, reporting to the Head of Personal Motor. The Personal Motor portfolio encompasses Private Car and LCV.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Line of Business Head in the successful delivery of our business plans. They will be required to work closely with Broker Partners and other internal stakeholders, such as Pricing, Product Underwriting peers, Claims, Finance, Sales & Distribution and ensure all areas of the business are managed according to the Zurich Way of Underwriting and within delegated authority levels.

    Your Role


    Responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:

    • Support Line of Business Head on all plan delivery tasks.
    • Contribute to the implementation of underwriting strategies (e.g. pricing) and solutions (e.g. product development, underwriting tools and processes) for a portfolio, line of business or product line.
    • Monitor underwriting strategy relating to performance metrics, data and insights.
    • Operate within established organization Risk Policy, Global Underwriting Policy and underwriting governance policies.
    • Development of technical underwriting guidelines, and Best Practices, including controls and procedures.
    • Review Performance KPI's and Metrics and reporting to various internal stakeholders on trends, risks, opportunities.
    • Managing referrals from Underwriting operations.
    • Managing UAL Uplift (Underwriting Licence authority) with Operations.
    • Managing key broker and MGA relationship proactively and independently.
    • Building relationships with and managing various internal & external stakeholders
    • Act as PL Motor lead on various projects e.g. MTPL and support other projects on ad-hoc basis e.g. Migration and Broker Digitalisation.
    • Proactively contribute ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions based on technical, customer and distributor insights.
    • Adhere to Central Bank compliance standards of operating.
    • Demonstrate high level of Quality Assurance and risk identification in all elements of the underwriting process.
    • Ensure any issues arising are dealt with in accordance with Zurich standards and that where appropriate issues escalated in a timely fashion.
    • Maintain Underwriting Records in accordance with regulatory /statutory and internal requirements.

    Relationships

    Internal Relationship

    • Reporting to the Line of Business Head.
    • Strong collaboration required with Senior Technical Underwriters and Personal Lines Operations.

    External Relationship

    • Liaising with all key stakeholders e.g. Sales & Distribution, Pricing, IT, Business Change, MIDs, Claims, Reserving, Finance, Brokers.

    Your Skills and Experience


    As a Senior Motor Product Underwriter your skills and qualifications will include:

    Required:

    • 5 years plus experience in motor underwriting.
    • Excellent technical insurance knowledge, including specific knowledge in Personal Motor
    • CIP
    • Excellent knowledge of Zurich products/policy wordings.
    • Strong understanding of the Personal Lines insurance market

    Competencies:

    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Strong analytical & numerical skills.
    • Strong communication& collaboration skills.
    • Ability to work at pace and on own initiative.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint.
    • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

    Additional Information


    Primary work location is Blackrock, Dublin. Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
