    Care Assistant Role Overview

    The Care Assistant, also known as Living My Life Support Worker, plays a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to achieve their life goals and live independently.

    As part of the Living My Life Housing Project team, you will work closely with individuals, their circles of support, and other stakeholders to identify their needs and develop personalized support plans.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Build trust-based relationships with the people you support, respecting their autonomy and promoting mutual respect.
    2. Create opportunities for individuals to work towards their person-centered goals, focusing on building independent living skills and competencies.
    3. Support integration into local communities through social activities and employment initiatives.
    4. Collaborate with the project team to deliver skill-building programs and transition plans, ensuring a smooth move into supported independent living arrangements.
    5. Empower individuals to make choices and decisions, upholding their voice and preference in all aspects of their life.
    6. Assist with daily tasks such as bill payment, home management, self-care, and health and wellbeing as needed.

    Person Specifications:

    1. Be passionate about supporting individuals to achieve their full potential.
    2. Actively contribute to a positive team environment, collaborating with colleagues and seeking guidance when necessary.
    3. Be curious and interested in people's meaningful lives, finding opportunities for networking and growth.
    4. Demonstrate a person-centered and relationship-focused approach, prioritizing the well-being and dignity of those you support.

    Requirements:

    1. Hold a relevant qualification, such as ETAC Health Care Level 5 or equivalent.
    2. Have at least one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar role.
    3. Possess a valid clean driver's license, access to a vehicle, and insurance to cover passengers for work-related duties.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    1. Health & Safety Training certification.
    2. Lone Working experience.
    3. Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
    4. Experience linking individuals into their local community through employment or social activities.
