Software Development Engineer in Test, Amazon Languages and Runtimes

Job ID: | Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited

The Amazon Languages and Runtimes organization is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET). Amazon's internal developers build services primarily in Java and the Languages and Runtimes organization develops and supports the entire Java ecosystem both inside and outside the company. We are looking for an experienced SDET who will help to build and maintain the complex automation infrastructure we need to deliver at scale.
As a SDET on our team you will contribute to the construction and maintenance of test automation and infrastructure. You will be responsible for creating new infrastructure to help us keep pace with the needs of our customers and partners. You will be working directly with Developers, QA Engineers and Product Management across the organization to ensure the quality of our software.

    Key job responsibilities
As an SDET in Languages and Runtimes organization you will be responsible for design, construction and maintenance of our automated test infrastructure. You will automate all aspects of our testing from regression/functional, to compatibility and performance coverage. You will drive all aspects of test automation from design to implementation. You will work on test strategy such as identifying coverage gaps or finding efficiencies in current automation. A day in the life
As you design and code solutions to help our team drive efficiencies in software architecture, you'll create metrics, implement automation and other improvements, and resolve the root cause of software defects.
You'll also: * Build high-impact solutions to deliver to our large customer base.
    * Participate in design discussions, code review, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
    * Work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input.
    * Work in a startup-like development environment, where you're always working on the most important stuff. About the team
    About Amazon Languages and Runtimes
The Java team in the Languages and Runtimes organization builds Java JDKs (based on OpenJDK), Java virtual machines, libraries, related adoption and performance improvement tools. We provide consults, tuning, security response, and performance improvements to builders in Java. One of our adoption tools is focused on extending the lifetime of legacy Java versions, providing performance gains found in latest JVM versions to code running on legacy JVM versions.
