    Job Description for Counsellors/Therapists

    Accredited Counsellors/Therapists are required to provide sessional work with the HSE Counselling Primary Care (CIPC) service in Dublin South East & Wicklow East.

    About CIPC

    The HSE National Counselling Service has developed a Counselling in Primary Care service, providing short-term counselling in primary care settings to medical card holders aged 18 years and over.

    This service is delivered by professionally qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, and psychologists under the governance of the HSE Directors of Counselling.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • A recognised Level 7 qualification (QQI) in a relevant human science discipline or an equivalent health and social care or health-related profession.

    In addition, applicants must possess one of the following:

    • Hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in counselling or psychotherapy recognized by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) or a relevant body within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).
    • Have full accredited membership with IACP or a relevant body within ICP.
    • Hold a postgraduate qualification in counselling psychology or clinical psychology recognized by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
    • Be in the process of registration with PSI or fully registered with the clinical or counselling psychology division of PSI.

    Applicants should also have a minimum of two years relevant post-qualification experience. A selection process will be conducted as part of the application process.
