    Job Title: Associate Professor / Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (equivalent to Senior Lecturer / Consultant HSE title and scale)

    Post Summary

    The Associate Professor /Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) is an academic post between Trinity College Dublin, The Dublin Dental University Hospital and St. James's Hospital. This academic post will have a role in and contribute to establishing the national OMFS service at St James at the forefront of developments in Irish Healthcare through academic leadership in OMFS and when implemented participation in the Academic Health Science System (AHSS) partnership model.

    Contract Type: Appointment will be made on the Public Only Consultants Contract 2023 as per 7 March 2023 HSE circular 008/2023, at a point in line with Irish Government Pay Policy.

    School of Dental Science, Faculty of Health Sciences, Trinity College Dublin National Maxillofacial Surgery Unit St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8

    Reports to:

    Dean of Dental Affairs, School of Dental Science Clinical Director, Dublin Dental University Hospital Clinical Director, SACC (Surgery Anaesthesia Critical Care) St. James's Hospital.

    Hours of Work:

    18.5 hours - School of Dental Science, Dublin Dental University Hospital 18.5 hours – National Maxillofacial Surgery Unit St. James's Hospital, James's Street, Dublin 8

    Salary: Appointment will be made on the Public Only Consultants Contract 2023 as per 7 March 2023 HSE circular 008/2023, at a point in line with Irish Government Pay Policy found here

  • A cover letter addressing the following: Applicants should articulate a clear vision for the development of research in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a view to improving patient care. Applicants should have demonstrable experience in teaching in third level institutions; the development of courses and curricula is considered an advantage. Applicants should have experience in the development of clinical services, and demonstrate insight in the development of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialist provision within the Hospitals. Applicants should demonstrate the qualities of leadership, professionalism and collegiality and dedication to the discipline of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
