    Job Details: Water Resource Engineer / Hydrologist - Mining

    We are seeking experienced mine water professionals to support our expanding pipeline of work in the mining sector.

    This position provides an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary service offering which includes mining engineers, geologists, tailings engineers, geotechnical engineers, ESG practitioners, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, and geochemists.

    You could be based in any of our European offices, with preferred locations in Dublin, Edinburgh, Bristol, Nottingham, or London.

    Your Role:

    • Provide specialist input to local and international mining studies including Environmental & Social Impacts Assessments, Pre-Feasibility & Feasibility Studies, Due Diligence Assessments, and Closure Planning.
    • Work alongside a diverse mining team including mining and tailings engineers, geotechnical specialists, and geologists, climate change scientists, and ESG practitioners.
    • Be involved in all aspects of successful project delivery, including proposal writing, risk identification, project setup, tracking progress against budgets, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
    • Provide workload to others in the team and other disciplines, and mentor and coach colleagues.
    • Contribute to the strategic direction, planning, and development of the team, creating new opportunities and prospects, and enhancing team capacity and capability.
    • Stay up-to-date with technical innovation and ensure we provide high-value advice that complies with recognised best practice, technical guidance, and legislation impacting water management in the mining and minerals sector.

    Your Project Work:

    Your project work will involve travel across the UK, Europe, and internationally, with potential site visits supporting field campaigns or site investigations.

    About You:

    • Hold relevant academic qualifications and be working toward or already registered as a Chartered specialist through a UK/EU recognised organisation (or equivalent overseas organisation).
    • Demonstrate experience in contributing to the delivery of technical studies throughout various phases of the mine life cycle, from environmental impact assessment to closure.
    • Show strong technical and numerical skills, with experience in relevant modelling packages.
    • Demonstrate strong communication skills, with experience in reporting, developing graphics/drawings, and presentations.

    Your Knowledge:

    • Climate characterisation and design rainfall estimation
    • Flood hydrology and rainfall-runoff modelling
    • Water balance modelling
    • Planning and design of water management infrastructure
    • Dam break assessment for water and tailings storage facilities
    • Technical reporting and client liaison

    Desirable Skills:

    • Design and execution of field hydrology programmes
    • Water quality monitoring and modelling
    • GoldSim probabilistic scenario modelling
    • Hydraulic modelling – Newtonian and non-Newtonian flow
    • Data science using R
    • GIS and/or CAD skills
    • Design specifications, bill of quantities, capital and operational cost estimation
    • Design of pumps systems

    Requirements:

    Please note that you will require a full current driving licence valid in the UK due to the nature of the work.
