    Job Description:

    The Buyer role offers excellent opportunities for growth and development within the company.

    You will be responsible for procuring products and providing purchasing support to the rest of the team.

    Your goal will be to enhance the offering to our customers by developing relationships with new and existing suppliers.

    You will ensure maximum value and efficiency for the business while maintaining confidentiality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Negotiate with suppliers to build positive, long-term relationships.
    2. Research potential new suppliers and make recommendations.
    3. Capture all relevant commercial and product information from buying appointments and attend key appointments when required.
    4. Set up and maintain stock and supplier records.
    5. Write, place, and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
    6. Forecast sales on core lines to prevent stockouts and place orders accordingly.
    7. Monitor seasonal stock and propose repeat orders where appropriate.
    8. Maintain buying spreadsheets and keep Open To Buy up to date.
    9. Analyse sales figures, market trends, and customer behaviour to determine product needs.
    10. Determine the need for and implement product promotions, price changes, mark downs, clear outs, etc.
    11. Deal with any purchase order/invoice issues and follow them through to resolution.
    12. Carry out general administrative responsibilities within the department.
    13. Book deliveries and authorise their release.
    14. Liaise with the accounts department regarding supplier payment terms, discount, and stock discrepancies.
    15. Liaise with store planning and develop merchandising strategies.
    16. Organise and administer inter-store stock transfers.
    17. Arrange and organise buying appointments.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 2 years buying experience required.
    • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
    • Discreet, professional, and excellent communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
    • Keen eye for detail.
    • Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Excellent commercial awareness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
    • Valid driver's licence.
