    Description

    Temporary Senior Physiotherapist Musculoskeletal Care. (1.0 WTE)

    Location of Post

    Mercy Minor Injury Unit, Gurranabraher (MIU-G), St. Mary's Health Campus

    Details of Service

    Provision of Physiotherapy services to patients who are referred with musculoskeletal complaints- peripheral joints only, no spinal joints). This Service will accept referrals from MIU-G NCHDs and Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist. It will be delivered on an outpatient basis from MIU-G.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Be responsible for assessment, treatment planning, implementation and review of treatment / intervention programmes for patients with musculoskeletal complaints in an outpatient and setting as set out in the Details of Service.
    • Manage workload in accordance with the needs of the post
    • Collaborate with service users, family, carers, other therapists, consultant teams, GP's and other staff as appropriate in treatment / intervention, planning and provision of services in a coordinated way
    • To be a leader in the clinical Physiotherapy rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal issues.
    • Collaborate with MDT in discharge planning or transfer of care between services as appropriate
    • Maintain clinical records in accordance with local, hospital and Professional guidelines, and be involved in documentation audits and provide data on a regular basis as required by the HSE, MUH, NRH for CARF (Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) requirements.
    • Communicate verbally and / or in writing results of assessments, treatment / intervention programmes and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy
    • Attend clinics, review meetings, team meetings, case conferences, etc. as required and at varied locations.
    • Support community teams in the delivery of integrated care
    • Arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner within settings appropriate to service users needs and in line with local policy / guidelines
    • Maintain departmental and hospital standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audit as appropriate, mindful of the sensitive nature of this work
    • Record and collate statistics including computer statistics to reflect work undertaken and provide data as required by the Physiotherapy Manager
    • Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation
    • Operate within the rules of Professional Conduct as assigned by CORU and the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapy

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING

    • Participate in mandatory training programmes, IST and journal clubs as required
    • Participate in continuing professional development including in-service training, attending and presenting at conferences / courses relevant to practice, promoting and contributing to research etc.
    • Participate in clinical supervision sessions as required and performance review as assigned by the Physiotherapy Manager
    • Supervise students from the University of Limerick in conjunction with the Practice Tutor

    Eligibility Criteria

    Qualifications and/ or experience

    Essential:

    Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed applications,

    (a) Possess the Bachelor in Physiotherapy (Hons.) or B.Sc. Physiotherapy (Hons) degree from the National University of Ireland or University of Dublin

    or

    (b) Possess the Diploma in Physiotherapy of the University of Dublin or the National University of Ireland

    or

    (c) Possess a qualification in Physiotherapy at least equivalent to (a) or (b) above

    or

    (e) Be a member of, or be eligible for membership of, the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists

    (Under EU regulations, qualifications obtained outside the Republic of Ireland must be validated by the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists / CORU)

    And

    (f) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapist Register maintained by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued. On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Physiotherapist register maintained by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU. Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to MUH by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)

    (g) Have had at least three years satisfactory post qualification experience some of which must be in the area of Musculoskeletal Care,

    Have CPD in the area of Musculoskeletal Care
