    Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Description

    Job Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team on an upcoming project in Limerick. As a key member of the commercial management team, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of large, high-profile projects in the region.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Commercial Management: Oversee the commercial aspects of our projects, including cost management, procurement, and contract administration.
    • Cost Planning: Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and budgets, monitoring costs against budget and identifying variances.
    • Tendering: Lead the tendering process for subcontractor packages, reviewing bids, negotiating contracts, and making recommendations to senior management.
    • Contract Administration: Administer construction contracts, including reviewing contract terms, preparing subcontract agreements, and managing variations and claims.
    • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and measurements, ensuring quantities are in line with project requirements.
    • Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to identify value engineering opportunities.
    • Change Control: Manage change control processes, assessing the impact of changes on project costs and schedules and negotiating equitable solutions with stakeholders.
    • Claims: Prepare and defend contractual claims, ensuring compliance with contract terms and applicable regulations.
    • Team Support: Provide guidance and support to junior quantity surveyors and other project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor's Degree: In Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or commercial management.
    • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and industry standards.
    • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
    • Communication Skills: Proficiency in cost estimating, cost control, and financial management, as well as effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
