    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Divisional Dean and Coordinator of Flight Operations, the Aviation Specialist oversees the desk when students are scheduled to fly in the Professional Pilot Program and is available for all students in this program. The College conducts flight operations under Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 141. This position meets certification requirements for dispatching aircraft for flight. The hours for this department will range between 6 am to 10 pm, six days a week affording students the opportunity to successfully complete the graduation requirements for this program. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Dispatches aircraft for students and instructors including the supplemental dispatch paperwork, which provides mandatory information to the student before flight can ensue
  • Maintains numerous spreadsheets throughout the day including updating student financial balances, tracking student attendance, lesson cancellation with specific coding, and vendor scheduling issues
  • Invoices all lesson activity for students scheduled each day
  • Records all financial information into spreadsheets for current students
  • Pulls all financial balances for individual spreadsheets to Semester Master sheet
  • Enters student FAA mandated documentation into e-files and Vendor scheduling software
  • Collaborates with all others in this position on procedural updates
  • Maintains a handoff sheet with current flight information to the relieving shift
  • Maintains flight center area and equipment in clean and working condition
  • Operates and assists in radio communications
  • Operates office machines
  • Composes, types and edits correspondence
  • Provides instructors and students with requested information
  • Supports the Professional Pilot and Flight Operations programs in assisting students in scheduling their flights in accordance to the rules and regulations of US Aviation

  • Ability to make appropriate decisions when Supervisor/Flight Coordinator is away from the office
