    Job Description:

    Job Title: Healthcare Assistant

    Location: Nazareth House Mallow, Dromore, Mallow, Co. Cork

    Report to: Director of Nursing

    Job Purpose: To provide individualized holistic care, promoting independence and effective communication with residents and the multidisciplinary team.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Deliver quality care to each resident
    • Assist residents with intimate and personal care based on assessed needs
    • Assist residents with eating and drinking where appropriate
    • Promote a normal nutritional diet
    • Assist residents with mobilizing
    • Support diversional therapy (activities, movement to music)
    • Assist nursing staff with resident care and end-of-life care
    • Familiarize yourself with infection control procedures
    • Report any changes in residents' condition to the senior nurse on duty
    • Maintain residents' sleep patterns by minimizing excessive noise and bright lights at night
    • Document required records during your duties

    Health & Safety:

    • Closely supervise residents due to their high dependency
    • Aware of health and safety policies within Nazareth Care Ireland
    • Report faulty equipment to your supervisor
    • Familiarize yourself with transfer slide sheets, handling belts, and hoist usage
    • Use hoists with a second staff member present
    • Understand evacuation and fire procedures

    Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:

    • FETAC Level 5 and/or relevant training
    • Previous experience in caring for the elderly, preferably in a residential setting
    • A person-centered approach to care planning
    • Teamwork experience
    • Demonstrated continuing professional development
    • Effective communication skills at all levels
    • Genuine interest in caring for older people
    • Positive attitude and adaptability
    • Care planning participation with nursing and other relevant staff
    • Manual Handling and Patient Moving Skills proficiency
