    Job Title: Health Care Assistant

    Reports To: Health Care Supervisor / Branch Manager

    Location: Dublin

    Job Type: Part-Time – Monday – Friday: 8.00am – 14.00pm

    Job Summary:

    The role of a Health Care Assistant is to support the Customer to live happily and safely at home. This may involve assisting them with personal care, such as showering or bathing, assisting with dressing, assisting with incontinence care, assisting with meal preparation and light housekeeping.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Practice and maintain the most recent protocol in relation to safety procedures, such as Person Moving and Handling
    2. Report any concerns in relation to the Customer, or colleagues if they are not working within safe boundaries to your manager
    3. Report any safeguarding incidents or what you may think is safeguarding to your manager
    4. Document accurately and factually in the daily logs, all tasks completed with the Customer for each shift
    5. Always maintain confidentiality
    6. Attend any training scheduled for you by InisCare & Work within safe and professional boundaries
    7. Ensure each task performed with the Customer (medication prompt, personal care, meal preparation, etc) is completed with dignity and respect for the Customer.
    8. Encourage autonomy and decision making
    9. Talk with the Customer throughout the shift, regardless of their verbal and cognitive ability, ensuring that all conversations are within a professional context
    10. Attend shifts as scheduled and contact the office in a timely manner if you are unable to attend a shift or are late. Do not phone the customer directly.

    Qualifications:

    • QQI Level 5 Health care Award or equivalent

    • AMRIC Basics of Infection Prevention and Control – HSE LAND

    Skills:

    • Basic patient care: bathing, dressing, feeding
    • Assisting with mobility and exercise
    • Effective verbal and written communication & Active listening

    • Familiarity with healthcare equipment and devices

    Experience:

    • Prior experience is not required if you have your QQI Level 5
