    Project Worker, Youth Housing, Limerick

    Location: Limerick

    Contract: 1 Years Fixed-Term, Full-time

    The purpose of this role is to work as part of the Aftercare Team to provide a flexible Aftercare, Supported housing service responding to the needs of young people in Limerick & Clare.

    What you will do:

  • Work within the framework of the overall aims and objectives of Focus Ireland and use the model of care devised for the project.
  • Work as part of a team in delivering the service to the young people.
  • Draw up suitable care plans to prepare and support each resident for independent living
  • Support young people holistically, paying attention to their practical self-care needs, health, budgeting, and domestic skills.
  • Play a part in promoting and building the confidence and self-esteem of young people leaving care
  • Advocate on behalf of residents for housing, social work, social welfare, education, training and legal rights.
  • Liaise with and make referrals to relevant outside agencies.
  • Provide individual support and keyworking to residents of the project
  • Assist in the facilitation of group work sessions for residents of the project.
  • To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative
  • Attend Team, Divisional and Agency meetings as required
  • Maintain accurate case records and statistics
  • Liaise with and inform the Project Leader, on a regular basis, of issues arising from work with individual cases
  • Engage in PIE and supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Manager.
  • Participate in relevant training and development courses and in project evaluation
  • Implement the existing policies and procedures of the project and of Focus Ireland and adhere to the Standards of Customer service.
  • Assist in the implementation of the settlement policies and strategies of Focus Ireland
  • Work in close liaison with and co-operate with other Focus Ireland projects.
  • In consultation, to undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Project Manager, Section Manager or Divisional Head.
  • What you will need:

  • Social Care or Equivalent Qualification at degree level.
  • Experience working in a social care setting at least 2 years.
  • Experience of key-working clients or individual case-work.
  • Full clean driver's license and access to own car.
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour.
  • Good understanding of the issue affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare.
  • Flexibility.
  • Understanding of Child Protection.
  • Experience of inter-agency working.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
