    We currently have a requirement for a HR Generalist to join our New Abbott Diabetes Care Kilkenny site.

    The Purpose of the HR Generalist is to:

    Design, develop and implement employment and employee relations programs related to Human Resources (HR) functional areas. Advise management and employees in HR policy and program matters, recommending appropriate decision or course of action. Serve as employee and management liaison as needed. Participate in special projects. May co-ordinate recruitment strategy for open positions; maintain internal HR systems; conduct training.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Managers with staffing decisions by assessing needs and objectives, helping managers identify appropriate knowledge/skills/abilities, reviewing applications, and facilitating the selection of candidates to ensure compliance in the hiring, transfer and promotion of employees.
  • Monitors, creates and maintains appropriate employee documentation as it pertains to the hiring and selection process, changes to employees' status, pay and benefits, annual performance appraisal process, employee relations investigations, employee discipline, and employee terminations to maintain compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.
  • Provides guidance and counselling to managers and employees on employee relations, employee discipline, and performance issues by providing coaching, interpreting company policies and procedures and/or directing individuals to outside counselling services for resolution of personal matters.
  • Investigates employee allegations by interviewing appropriate parties, gathering information, providing feedback to the employee, and making recommendations for corrective action to prevent recurrence of situation.
  • Ensures all applicable legal requirements are met to minimise exposure to liability and works closely with Legal counsel on all situations which pose a litigation risk or other liability.
  • Proactively identifies potential employee issues by participating in functional management and employee meetings on a regular basis.
  • Participates in maintaining an accurate job documentation system by conducting job analyses for jobs as needed.
  • Conducts all aspects of the job with appropriate level of confidentiality and sensitivity to employee and organisational data by storing documents careful, holding conversations in private where appropriate, and not disclosing confidential information except on a need-to-know basis.
  • Conducts employee training in a variety of areas to ensure employees are properly trained in necessary techniques and/or possess the knowledge needed to fulfill job duties and responsibilities.
  • Represents business unit in Abbott-wide HR teams and projects by conducting research, analysing data, and compiling statistical reports and information.
  • May be involved in negotiate fees and contracts with outside vendors.
  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline and 2+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Working knowledge and application of business concepts, procedures, and practices. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in non-compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Must have a general knowledge of technical alternatives and an understanding of their impact on the systems environment.
  • Cultivates a wide range of internal networks and begins to develop an external network of resources to facilitate completion of tasks. May demonstrate basic project management skills by acting as a project lead on small, well-defined projects. Provides guidance to less experienced staff. Influence exerted at peer level and occasionally at first levels of management.
  • Plans, organises, and prioritises own daily work routine to meet established schedule.
  • Exercises authority and judgment within defined limits to determine appropriate action. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays and may result in the allocation of additional resources.
  • Works under general supervision. Receives limited supervision on standard issues, and detailed instructions on new assignments. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy.
  • May provide limited work direction and guidance to exempt and/or skilled non-exempt levels of employees; may be asked to evaluate performance of and assist in career development planning for subordinates.
