The successful candidate will be a Chartered Environmental Engineer or Scientist, and be professionally qualified to a high level. There is some flexibility with regards to the location to be based.Our client is a leading specialist geotechnical engineering consultancy, providing innovative geotechnical solutions across a broad range of the civil engineering, infrastructure, construction, regeneration and development sectors.Our client provides services to a wide variety of the domestic and international market, including concept design, detailed design, in-situ monitoring and general geotechnical advice. As part of a continued commitment to overall growth and portfolio diversification, our client is intent to build on its existing Environmental section, which includes contaminated land experts, geologists, hydrogeologists and environmental engineers, to develop a more multi–disciplinary environmental team which can compete and win work in a broader environmental spectrum. Their ambition is to build a sustainable and profitable business, and an accompanying team, that can offer a complete environmental service to complement their existing multi–disciplinary engineering offering. The clear and precise ambit is to target projects at the earliest possible stage of development to provide a multi–disciplinary environmental, planning and front–end engineering service to clients. The position will take total responsibility for all aspects of this business and will be at a Director Level.Our client wishes to recruit an experienced senior Environmental Engineer or Scientist with a proven track record to lead their Environmental business and team. The successful candidate will be a Chartered Environmental Engineer or Scientist, and be professionally qualified to a high level. You will need to be technically and commercially astute, whilst being able to relate to, and interact with, staff, clients and other colleagues within the group. You will need to be committed to the concept of sustainability, and be able to develop an ethos and practice throughout the company. You will need to have the drive and ambition to build an Environmental Section to a scale that is commercially viable and can compete for high value projects.Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to); * Business development * Client management * Project management * Commercial management * Staff management and supervision * Building an effective and sustainable Environmental team and business * Tender preparation, including overall checking and approval * Compiling, checking and approving environmental reports * Managing environmental studies from concept to completionExpertise Required; * Able to manage a complete EIA for a variety of projects, including major infrastructure * Experience of onshore and offshore projects * Be familiar with all up to date environmental legislation * Knowledge of EA/EPA Guidance Notes and Permitting procedures * Able to manage a multi–disciplinary environmental team * Possess experience at public hearings and acting as a professional witness * Knowledge of Planning Procedures * Excellent report writing and IT skillsWe are committed to equal opportunities.
