    About the Opportunity

    We are looking for a Senior Building Services/Mechanical (HVAC) Design Engineer to join our Irish team based in Sandyford, Dublin who is excited about working on advanced facilities projects that enable the heart of our clients' business.

    Join us and you will have the chance to both support and lead projects at some of the world's most state of the art industrial and commercial facilities. You will be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client's expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You may also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work activities with other design and engineering professionals and the discipline lead. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for building HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems and components.

    You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Mechanical discipline. In this role you will solve complex problems, take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions, and work independently with minimal guidance in only the most complex situations. You may lead a functional team or project and serve as a best practice and quality resource.

    Here's What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Building Services/Mechanical (HVAC) Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of practical application of mechanical engineering and design, including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and related mechanical building systems.
  • At least 5 years' Design experience with mission critical facilities in the industrial/advanced technology sector.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors at all levels. (CEFR level B2 English)
  • Experience in independently leading a functional or project team including organizing, assigning, and delegating necessary engineering and design tasks, whileengaging with staff to provide on the job training and mentoring.
  • Ability to create disciplines staffing plans and forecasting hours.
  • Ability to work in the Jacobs Sandyford office, Dublin
  • Display strong leadership and interpersonal skills and with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite (Excel).
  • Ability to understand and implement Jacobs' policies and standards.
  • Working knowledge of International Building Codes and local Irish regulations and standards.
  • Experience working with a BIM environment, and a working knowledge of Navisworks with some experience with Revit software.
  • Ideally, you will also have:

  • Passion for buildings and construction.
  • Preferred candidates will have prior design experience leading teams (wet and dry systems) on industrial utility buildings piping systems, large complex industrial HVAC systems and process exhaust systems.
