    About the Role

    Workday is looking for a Technical Project Manager to join our PMO to support programs that drive the delivery of new products/features/infrastructure utilizing industry best practices in management and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

    With a technical background in Software or Cloud Engineering you will be accountable for the successful execution of the project, with the ability to translate project requirements from non-technical customer teams and work closely with technical teams to successfully deliver.

    The nature of individual projects will vary depending on the current needs of the organization. You will collaborate with engineers, architects and program managers from engineering and development teams to analyze and define the technical needs of projects and drive the requirements from the design phase through management and delivery.

    Workday has a rapidly growing customer base in a Software-as-a-Service model. You need to think about security, scalability, and reliability constantly. You must enjoy the fast pace of an Internet company where requirements and constraints can change rapidly. Your daily work will have a direct impact on our customers and our business.     Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple, complex technical projects across Cloud and Software Engineering
  • Identify and escalate conflicts and be able to manage trade-offs involving features, cost, design and schedule.
  • Effectively communicate with senior management on decisions that impact multiple programs
  • Drive process optimization and identify opportunities for improving our service offerings.
  • Effectively communicate with cross functional teams through the complete project /program lifecycle.
  • Manage the backlog of features, enhancements, and change requests.
  • Facilitate security reviews for projects, technologies, third parties and business process to determine adherence to security policy
  • Partner with internal customers to develop new insights and understand long term vision of programs and deliver actionable results.

    Basic Qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience in Technical Project Management.
  • A technical background in Software Engineering or Cloud Engineering.
  • Awareness of Agile/Scrum/Kanban concepts.
  • Working knowledge of service management and secure software development practices.
  • Experience driving private and public cloud programs in a Technical Project Manager capacity.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills.
  • Able to drive collaboration and influence multiple teams.
  • Other Qualifications

  • Experience with Jira/Confluence is desirable.
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Able to produce creative solutions for process challenges
  • Comfortable handling competing priorities and resources
  • Good sense of humour; We like to have fun while we work
  • Certificate in Project or Program Management or Agile methodology is a plus
