    Organization Overview:

    The External R&D Pharmaceutical Project Manager (PPM) will provide operational drug development leadership across the External Innovation R&D portfolio. This includes partnering with External R&D Program and Implementation Leads to ensure implementation readiness, program oversight and support external partnerships for discovery and preclinical collaboration projects. As necessary, this role will also liaison with asset managers within the Chorus organization for program transitions.

    Responsibilities:

    Facilitating and Supporting External R&D Collaboration Portfolio Delivery (85%):

  • Develop integrated project plans aligned with the obligations of the collaboration agreements and oversee delivery of project milestones
  • Drive financial accounting (direct and indirect) across programs, providing internal reports (actual vs. planned, etc.), lead discrepancy resolution, and partner with finance to ensure accuracy of partner invoicing as needed.
  • Support the External R&D Program and Implementation Leads with program implementation readiness and oversight including removing internal barriers for our internal scientific teams as well as external partner meeting management.
  • Proficient in self-management and organizational skills; able to manage workload, set personal and team priorities and adjust as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills; able to develop effective teamwork between team members with diverse styles
  • Project Management Tools/IT Management: Provide quality and timely content using project management tools (i.e. PRISM, SmartSheet, PowerBI, internal financial systems) Monitor and prioritize program risks suggesting ways to avoid/mitigate risks and initiate contingency plans as needed
  • Application/Improvement of Processes (Shared Learning) (10%):

  • Leads through shared learning, process improvement, and identification of special/complex needs
  • Share learnings and retrospectively review lessons learned
  • Bring forward areas for continual process improvement to increase efficiency and success
  • Liaise with Project Management Office (PMO), Resource Modeling and Forecasting (RMF) and Portfolio Systems and Business Integration (PSBI) teams to identify, share, and incorporate best practices into future processes, tools and training to support both External and Internal R&D
  • People (5%):

  • Basic Requirements:

  • Four-year degree preferably in a health-related, scientific or engineering field
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, or project management and/or product development
  • Additional Preferences:

  • Higher degrees or certifications (e.g. MS., MBA, Master's degree in Project Management or PMP)
  • Demonstrated direct leadership in cross functional environment
  • Knowledge of the external environment, including VC and biotech landscape
  • Knowledge of or previous experience with drug development processes and application of project management tools and processes in cross-functional settings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project (or related tools) and capable of maintaining appropriate project documentation
